Hvor er tasken?Where is the bag?
Tasken er på gulvetThe bag is on the floor
Physical position
Bogen ligger på bordetThe book is on the table
(show note..) [lit: the book is lying on the table]
Tasken står på gulvetThe bag is on the floor
(show note..) [lit: the bag is standing on the floor]
or
Tasken ligger på gulvetThe bag is on the floor
(show note..) [lit: the bag is lying on the floor]

When telling someone where something is, you will often describe the physical position of the object.

In the extra examples above, you have a bag that can either stand (står) og lie (ligger) on the floor. Why? Because it depends on what kind of bag it is.

If it is a briefcase kind of bag standing up you will say Tasken står på gulvet whereas if we are describing a bag that actually is lying down we will say just that: Tasken ligger på gulvet.
